Prof. Bartoov has made a great breakthrough in the field of male fertility by developing unique sperm examinations and treatments. These innovative methods include use of especially powerful microscopes with a magnification of x6000 which were constructed especially for our Laboratory. The examinations and treatments include a morphological examination called MSOME (high magnification motile sperm organellar morphology examination), search for isolated sperm cells and individual selection of sperm cells, called IMSI (intracytoplasmic morphologically selected sperm injection), which is used for IVF treatments using the micromanipulation technique (ICSI – intracytoplasmic sperm injection). The IMSI selection method was published in known scientific journals. It was proven that this method doubles the pregnancy rate compared to pregnancies which are obtained using routine ICSI without selection, increases the implantation rate of the embryos and reduces the abortion rate in the first trimester. This method is responsible for the birth of over 400! charming babies during the past two years.
